The Transitions Program at BHA
At the heart of Brethren Housing Association’s mission lies the Transitions Program, a transformative initiative designed to empower single-parent families experiencing homelessness. This program is a comprehensive journey that equips families with the tools, skills, and confidence to build a stable and self-sufficient future. Most participants spend at least a year with us, reflecting our commitment to meaningful and lasting change.
Empowering Families for Brighter Futures
When a parent no longer has to worry about where they and their children will sleep at night, they can focus on creating a better future. Through stable housing, compassionate support, and individualized guidance, the Transitions Program provides families with the foundation to thrive. For many participants, this marks the first time they have felt safe and surrounded by a supportive community.
A Pathway to Stability with Endless Support Along the Way
A Deeply Personalized Approach
Families work closely with a dedicated Family Advocate to set their own goals and receive weekly coaching, referrals to community resources, and life skills training. With love, accountability, and encouragement, we walk alongside each family on their journey to stability.
Transitions Youth Program: Every week, children in the Transitions Program participate in activities designed to nurture resilience, emotional regulation, and personal growth.
Financial Education Program: An empowering curriculum teaches participants how to manage their finances effectively, equipping them with essential tools for long-term success.
Prepared Renters Education Program: This program prepares families for sustainable housing by teaching them the skills and knowledge needed to be successful renters.
Job Club: Participants learn about the skills and resources for job seeking, interviewing, resume writing, and job retention. Participants are also connected with local career-oriented organizations – like Roads to Success and Dress for Success.
Through the Transitions Program, families leave homelessness behind and take meaningful strides toward a brighter, more stable future. At BHA, we believe that every family deserves a chance to build a life filled with hope, security, and opportunity. The Transitions Program is where that transformation begins.
