March 2011 Archive of News and MusingsMonday, March 28, 2011 Introducing: The Diener House We're launching our most ambitious rehabilitation project to date! A few years ago, we took possession of 203 1/2 Hummel Street, a boarded up former crack house. Now that other buildings we were rehabbing at the time are complete, we're turning our sights to the transformation of this two unit apartment building. Named after Ray Diener, a long-time supporter of BHA who was tragically shot and killed in 2007 as he responded to a call for help, the row house will offer shelter to two homeless families. It will stand as a tribute to one who served selflessly and to a family and faith community who believe in the redemption of even those most lost. The Diener Family now invites others to join their support for this redemptive vision. The house is currently gutted, and over the next year we will completely rehabilitate the interior and exterior of the property. To do so, we need financial donations, as well as donated or discounted materials and professional labor. If you or someone you know can help, please contact Steve Schwartz, Executive Director, at sschwartz@bha-pa.org or (717) 233-6016. You can join us in building a future with hope for homeless families! Posted by Steve Schwartz (3/28/2011 4:55:15 PM | link)
