Volunteer Opportunities at BHA

Adopt An Apartment:  A welcoming and warm home will provide a family with a foundation to build upon. Help clean and decorate an apartment to get it ready for a mom and her children to more in. Your small group, family or civic club can make a tangible difference in a families life.

Youth Program: Every Monday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 our participants have life skill classes, during which we provide programming for the children. Can you or your group provide supervision and nurturing care to the children in the program?

Property Maintenance: We need help maintaining our properties, including painting, cleaning, minor repairs and landscaping. Join us on a work day or help on another weekday. We need help on an ongoing basis and have some volunteers that help on a regular weekly basis.

Skilled Labor: We often have more complex renovation projects underway, and skilled carpentry or other construction labor can be a great blessing.

Work Groups: We occasionally host work groups from churches, youth organizations, local colleges or civic groups. Contact us if your group is looking for a service project.

Event Planning: Each year we host three special events–the Little Black Dress Soiree, a golf tournament, and an annual celebration banquet–to raise awareness and funds for our work. Would you like to help make one or more of these events a reality by recruiting attendees, distributing materials, recruiting sponsors or helping at the event?

Mailing Projects: Several times a year we send out mailings to our supporters and each mailing project is a large undertaking. Would you like to help, or would your church group of 6-12 people be willing to complete a mailing for us? If you’re local, we’ll bring everything to your church and work alongside you to complete the mailing. Let us know if this interests you.
