Executive Director

provides strategic direction and oversight to BHA: its mission, vision and programs. Her primary focus is on developing strategic partnerships within the community and building relationships with donors to provide the necessary resources to carry out the work of BHA. Crystal has a Bachelor of Social Work from West Chester University and a Masters of Social Work from Temple University with a concentration in management and planning. Crystal is from Harrisburg and currently resides in the city.

Program Director

assists the families in our programs to develop and achieve goals surrounding employment, education, parenting, relationships, health, and housing.  Marilyn has a B.A. in Family Studies from Messiah College and over 20 years of experience serving homeless families in the Harrisburg area.  She is the recipient of the 2016 Department of Human Development and Family Science (HDFS) Outstanding Alumni Award at Messiah College.  Marilyn, her husband Mark, and their three children live in Etters, PA.

Heather Cotignola-Pickens

Supportive Services Coordinator

oversees our Light House Youth Program for children of BHA participants including curriculum development and recruitment and training of youth mentoring volunteers. The other half of her time is spent supporting the five families in our Side-By-Side housing program for persons and families homeless due to disability. Heather has a B.S. in Psychology from Messiah College and previous experience in case management and mental health services. Heather, her husband John-Michael, and their puppies, Quinn and Rachel, live in Harrisburg.

Director of Development

oversees donor relations and leads fundraising efforts for BHA, including grant-writing, public relations and marketing. Lakeyshia received her B.S. in Business Administration from Shippensburg University and M.S. in Administration of Human Services from Wilmington University. She currently lives in Harrisburg with her husband Aaron, daughter Eva, and three sons Deontae, Keyron, and Aaden. They attend Living Water Community Church where she helps with the women’s and housing ministries.

Office Administrator

handles financial and personnel matters in addition to daily office management at BHA.  She is also the point person for volunteer work groups. Abbey holds a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Eastern University.  Abbey and her daughter, Miya, live in Ono.

Resiliency Group Facilitator

leads a weekly support group for the women at BHA that is focused on understanding the effects of trauma and gaining tools for dealing with its effects.   Micalagh received her B.A in Human Development and Family Sciences from Messiah College and her Masters of Social Work from Temple University. She lives in Harrisburg with her husband and son. They attend St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Uptown Harrisburg.

Family Advocate

works with families in the Transitions program as well as providing follow-up support to graduates through the Next Steps program. Cassy received her Bachelors of Social Work degree from Messiah College and is working on her Masters in Social Work from the University of New England in order to become a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Cassy and her husband Carl live in Middletown and attend Hershey Evangelical Free Church.

Property Manager

oversees the general maintenance of BHA's current properties in use, as well as the renovations of new properties being developed. His entire career has been spent in the construction and carpentry trades. Dennis, his wife Ann, and their children reside in Manheim and attend BHA member church, West Greentree Church of the Brethren.
