Give the Gift of Dignity This Christmas

In partnership with Living Water Community Church in Harrisburg, BHA is again seeking to bless low-income and homeless families this Christmas with the CHRISTMAS WORKSHOP! We have seen parents gain dignity when they can provide gifts for their own families.

We have seen parents gain dignity when they can provide gifts for their own families. BRAND NEW donated items and gift cards will be marked with a nominal price so that BHA families (and otherhomeless and low-income parents) are able to select and purchase items to give in their own family. Parents may also volunteer with the Christmas Workshop and earn store credit toward their purchases.

We seek donations of brand new items and gift cards such as:

  • Gifts for Infants/Toddlers/Kids/Teens: Including Toys, Games, Sports Equipment, Books, and Educational Toys
  • Gifts for Moms and Dads: Including Cookware, Curling Irons/Hairdryers, Tools and other Household Items
  • $10-$25 Gift Cards for CLOTHING STORES: such as Old Navy and Kohl’s (where Mom and Dad can shop for clothing for their family)

HOW TO TAKE PART: Contact Marilyn Bellesfield, BHA Case Manager, at (717) 233-6016 or mbellefield@bha-pa.org to arrange delivery of your unwrapped donations this holiday season. All donations should be received at BHA by Monday, November 23!

The Bible tells us that it is more blessed to give than to receive (Acts 20:35). You can help homeless and low-income parents know the joy of giving gifts of love to their own children this Christmas season!

NOTE: This idea originally came from Bob Lupton, a favorite author of ours and thinker on urban ministry issues. Bob is author of Toxic Charity: How Churches and Charities Hurt Those They Help, And How to Reverse It and founder of FCS Urban Ministries in Atlanta. Here you can read his story of the value of the Christmas Workshop and how the idea came about.
